The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Yanshan plotted against Hebei and China. The SNDi of new construction in Yanshan rose steadily, compared to Hebei which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Yanshan's incremental SNDi rose from 2.13 to 2.55 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Yanshan ranked 7th out of 120 cities in Hebei as of 2020.

In new street additions, Yanshan built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Yingjiang County built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved and Dumri fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Yanshan and Yingjiang County both became progressively more disconnected, while Dumri became progressively more connected. Yanshan and Dumri have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
