The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Caofeidian plotted against Hebei and China. All three follow the same trend in new construction, suggesting a shared regional pattern of development. Most recently, Caofeidian's incremental SNDi rose from 2.03 to 2.89 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Caofeidian ranked 34th out of 120 cities in Hebei and 604th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Caofeidian and Tangará da Serra both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Leninogorsk fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Caofeidian fluctuated in connectivity, while Tangará da Serra became progressively more disconnected and Leninogorsk became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards. Notably, Caofeidian had a more connected network than Leninogorsk in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
