The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Anping plotted against Hebei and China. All three follow the same trend in new construction, suggesting a shared regional pattern of development. Most recently, Anping's incremental SNDi rose from 2.46 to 2.55 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Anping fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Dadaab built increasingly disconnected streets over time and Shanyin built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. For the full network, Anping and Dadaab both became progressively more disconnected, while Shanyin grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Anping and Dadaab have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
