All three follow the same trend in new construction, suggesting a shared regional pattern of development. Most recently, Dongfang's incremental SNDi rose from 2.38 to 3.61 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Dongfang ranked 4th out of 17 cities in Hainan and 1124th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Dongfang and Papeete both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while San Carlos de Bariloche built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Looking at the full network, Papeete and San Carlos de Bariloche both became progressively more disconnected, while Dongfang fluctuated in connectivity.
