All three follow the same trend in new construction, suggesting a shared regional pattern of development. Most recently, Xinxing's incremental SNDi rose from 2.07 to 2.09 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Xinxing ranked 9th out of 133 cities in Guangdong as of 2020.

In new street additions, Xinxing fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Hohoe built increasingly disconnected streets over time and Olathe built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full network, Xinxing and Hohoe both became progressively more disconnected, while Olathe grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Xinxing and Hohoe have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
