The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Heshan plotted against Guangdong and China. The SNDi of new construction in Heshan rose steadily, compared to Guangdong which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Heshan's incremental SNDi rose from 3.07 to 4.1 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Heshan ranked 40th out of 133 cities in Guangdong and 768th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Heshan built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Xiangyin built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved and Chimbote built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full network, Heshan and Chimbote both became progressively more disconnected, while Xiangyin grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Heshan and Xiangyin have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
