The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Pingliang plotted against Gansu and China. While Gansu and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Pingliang's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Pingliang's incremental SNDi rose from 5.06 to 5.48 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Pingliang ranked 21st out of 29 cities in Gansu and 1732nd out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Pingliang and ICAD I both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Dehri built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full network, Pingliang and Dehri both became progressively more disconnected, while ICAD I fluctuated in connectivity. Pingliang and ICAD I have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
