The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Anxi plotted against Fujian and China. The SNDi of new construction in Anxi rose steadily, compared to Fujian which peaked in 1976-1990 and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Anxi's incremental SNDi rose from 4.28 to 4.61 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Anxi ranked 59th out of 75 cities in Fujian and 1592nd out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Anxi and Cartago both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Newcastle built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend. Notably, Anxi had a more connected network than Cartago in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
