The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Shuijiang plotted against Chongqing and China. The SNDi of new construction in Shuijiang followed a zig-zag trend with an overall decrease, compared to Chongqing which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Shuijiang's incremental SNDi fell from 4.17 to 3.62 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Shuijiang ranked 26th out of 47 cities in Chongqing and 1551st out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Shuijiang fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Malpura built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns and Naksimal built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. For the full network, Shuijiang fluctuated in connectivity, while Malpura became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards and Naksimal became progressively more disconnected. Notably, Shuijiang had a more sprawly network than Naksimal in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
