The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Nanling plotted against Anhui and China. The SNDi of new construction in Nanling rose steadily, compared to Anhui which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Nanling's incremental SNDi rose from 1.9 to 2.37 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Nanling ranked 16th out of 74 cities in Anhui and 215th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Nanling and Tiruvetipuram both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Shuangyang built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full network, Nanling and Tiruvetipuram both became progressively more disconnected, while Shuangyang grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Notably, Nanling had a more connected network than Shuangyang in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
