The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Lixin plotted against Anhui and China. The SNDi of new construction in Lixin peaked in 1991-2005, compared to Anhui which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Lixin's incremental SNDi fell from 1.82 to 1.52 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Lixin ranked 6th out of 74 cities in Anhui and 44th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Lixin built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Xietang built increasingly connected streets over time and Poncowati built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full network, Lixin and Poncowati both became progressively more disconnected, while Xietang grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Lixin and Xietang have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
