The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Huaiyuan plotted against Anhui and China. The SNDi of new construction in Huaiyuan rose steadily, compared to Anhui which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Huaiyuan's incremental SNDi rose from 2.55 to 2.8 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Huaiyuan ranked 32nd out of 74 cities in Anhui and 556th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

Huaiyuan, Al-Gamaleya, and Yirga Cheffe all built increasingly disconnected streets over time in new street construction. The same pattern holds for the full street network. Huaiyuan and Yirga Cheffe have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
