Karyari in context: Street-network sprawl trends

The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Karyari plotted against Wadi Fira and Chad. The SNDi of new construction in Karyari followed a zig-zag trend, compared to Wadi Fira which rose steadily and Chad which rose steadily. Most recently, Karyari's incremental SNDi fell from 13.37 to 10.86 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. Karyari and Mersa have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
