The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Gaoua plotted against Sud-Ouest and Burkina Faso. The SNDi of new construction in Gaoua was at its lowest in 1976-1990, compared to Sud-Ouest which rose steadily and Burkina Faso which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Gaoua's incremental SNDi rose from 1.57 to 2.23 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Gaoua ranked 1st out of 1 cities in Sud-Ouest and 10th out of 19 in Burkina Faso as of 2020.

In new street additions, Gaoua built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns, while Kabrai built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then shifted to more disconnected patterns and Bayhan built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full network, Gaoua became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards, while Kabrai became more connected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then grew more sprawly from 1991-2005 onwards and Bayhan became progressively more disconnected. Gaoua and Kabrai have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
