The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Pelotas plotted against Rio Grande do Sul and Brazil. The SNDi of new construction in Pelotas rose steadily, compared to Rio Grande do Sul which rose steadily and Brazil which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Pelotas's incremental SNDi rose from 3.34 to 5.08 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Pelotas ranked 15th out of 22 cities in Rio Grande do Sul and 227th out of 365 in Brazil as of 2020.

In new street additions, Pelotas built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Karaganda built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns and Đông Anh fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Pelotas became progressively more disconnected, while Karaganda became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards and Đông Anh fluctuated in connectivity. Pelotas and Karaganda have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
