The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Novo Hamburgo plotted against Rio Grande do Sul and Brazil. The SNDi of new construction in Novo Hamburgo rose steadily, compared to Rio Grande do Sul which rose steadily and Brazil which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Novo Hamburgo's incremental SNDi rose from 2.99 to 3.54 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Novo Hamburgo ranked 12th out of 22 cities in Rio Grande do Sul and 201st out of 365 in Brazil as of 2020.

In new street additions, Novo Hamburgo and Galle both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Yulin built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then shifted to more disconnected patterns. For the full network, Novo Hamburgo and Galle both became progressively more disconnected, while Yulin became more connected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then grew more sprawly from 1991-2005 onwards. Novo Hamburgo and Yulin have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
