The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Araucária plotted against Paraná and Brazil. The SNDi of new construction in Araucária rose steadily, compared to Paraná which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Brazil which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Araucária's incremental SNDi rose from 3.25 to 4.37 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Araucária ranked 17th out of 22 cities in Paraná and 273rd out of 365 in Brazil as of 2020.

In new street additions, Araucária and Lichuan both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Gatineau fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend. Araucária and Gatineau have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
