The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Unaí plotted against Minas Gerais and Brazil. The SNDi of new construction in Unaí rose steadily, compared to Minas Gerais which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Brazil which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Unaí's incremental SNDi rose from 2.13 to 3.37 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Unaí ranked 19th out of 49 cities in Minas Gerais and 130th out of 365 in Brazil as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Unaí built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Chaisang built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved and Barki Saria fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Unaí and Chaisang both became progressively more disconnected, while Barki Saria became progressively more disconnected. Unaí and Chaisang have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
