The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Caratinga plotted against Minas Gerais and Brazil. The SNDi of new construction in Caratinga rose steadily, compared to Minas Gerais which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Brazil which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Caratinga's incremental SNDi rose from 3.87 to 4.21 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Caratinga ranked 40th out of 49 cities in Minas Gerais and 301st out of 365 in Brazil as of 2020.

In new street additions, Caratinga built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Safur built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved and Wuxi fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Caratinga and Safur both became progressively more disconnected, while Wuxi fluctuated in connectivity. Caratinga and Safur have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
