Mathbarer Char in context: Street-network sprawl trends

The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Mathbarer Char plotted against Dhaka and Bangladesh. The SNDi of new construction in Mathbarer Char peaked in 1976-1990, compared to Dhaka which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Bangladesh which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Mathbarer Char's incremental SNDi fell from 5.46 to 4.86 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Mathbarer Char ranked 15th out of 40 cities in Dhaka and 94th out of 234 in Bangladesh as of 2020.

For the full network, Mathbarer Char grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, while Severodvinsk became more connected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then grew more sprawly from 1991-2005 onwards and Ghatkesar became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards. Mathbarer Char and Ghatkesar have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
