The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Kapashia plotted against Dhaka and Bangladesh. The SNDi of new construction in Kapashia rose steadily, compared to Dhaka which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Bangladesh which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Kapashia's incremental SNDi rose from 5.21 to 6.78 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Kapashia ranked 9th out of 40 cities in Dhaka and 78th out of 234 in Bangladesh as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
Kapashia, Suratgarh, and Langtang all built increasingly disconnected streets over time in new street construction. The same pattern holds for the full street network.
