The SNDi of new construction in Gopalganj followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, compared to Dhaka which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Bangladesh which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Gopalganj's incremental SNDi fell from 4.17 to 3.85 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Gopalganj ranked 2nd out of 40 cities in Dhaka and 28th out of 234 in Bangladesh as of 2020.

In new street additions, Gopalganj fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Xai-Xai built increasingly disconnected streets over time and MohammadAbad-e Rigan built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then shifted to more disconnected patterns. For the full network, Gopalganj and Xai-Xai both became progressively more disconnected, while MohammadAbad-e Rigan became more connected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then grew more sprawly from 1991-2005 onwards. Gopalganj and MohammadAbad-e Rigan have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
