The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Dhaka plotted against Chittagong and Bangladesh. While Chittagong and Bangladesh both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Dhaka's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Dhaka's incremental SNDi rose from 6.25 to 7.27 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Dhaka ranked 12th out of 44 cities in Chittagong and 97th out of 234 in Bangladesh as of 2020.

In new street additions, Dhaka and Tokyo both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while New Delhi built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend. Dhaka and Tokyo have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
