The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Astara plotted against Lankaran and Azerbaijan. The SNDi of new construction in Astara rose steadily, compared to Lankaran which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Azerbaijan which peaked in 1991-2005. Most recently, Astara's incremental SNDi rose from 7.52 to 7.58 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Astara ranked 4th out of 4 cities in Lankaran and 20th out of 20 in Azerbaijan as of 2020.

In new street additions, Astara and Battipaglia both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Baksan built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend.
