The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Gawaki plotted against Faryab and Afghanistan. The SNDi of new construction in Gawaki followed a zig-zag trend with an overall decrease, compared to Faryab which fell steadily and Afghanistan which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. In terms of the aggregate network, Gawaki ranked 1st out of 8 cities in Faryab and 1st out of 73 in Afghanistan as of 2020.

In new street additions, Gawaki fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Shaliuhe built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved and Fiche built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns. For the full network, Gawaki became progressively more disconnected, while Shaliuhe became progressively more disconnected and Fiche became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards. Notably, Gawaki had a more sprawly network than Shaliuhe in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
